Former deputy Roads Minister Kwabena Owusu Aduomi believes the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) would be unable to 'break the 8' in 2024 until the Ashanti region's roads are improved.

According to the lost Ashanti regional Chairman-hopeful, the people in the area, particularly NPP sympathizers, are dissatisfied with the incumbent government's performance in meeting the region's developmental demands.

"I toured all 47 constituencies in the area before of the NPP Ashanti delegates conference and the signals were obvious, our people are unhappy," the former Member of Parliament for the Ejisu Constituency told GHOne News. This implies that if elections were conducted today, we might not be able to reach our goals," he remarked.

He claimed that if the NPP fails to develop road networks in rural seats such as Manso Adubia and Kwabere, among others, the party may lose the guts to fight for their votes.

"I believe that Chairman Wontumi and Regional Minister Simon Osei Mensah, who were both re-elected, should devise a strategy to solve the region's road networks, which remain a crucial requirement for the people." While we won't be able to repair every road in the region, we must work with our constituency leaders to identify essential routes that require immediate attention. He cautioned, "Forget about breaking the eight."

He stated unequivocally that the present elected regional executives, led by Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Wontumi, will win the 2024 elections.

"I had hoped to lead the party into the 2024 election, but the delegates had other ideas." All of the elected members are capable of ensuring the party's success; nevertheless, they will require the full party's support. As a result, I'm devoted to assisting them in any way I can," he stated.

Meanwhile, the party's re-elected Chairman has launched a reconciliation effort to bring the party together.  Chairman Wontumi, speaking at a breakfast meeting in Kumasi, advised all lost candidates, from polling station to constituency to regional, to forgive each other regardless of the falsehoods and foul language used during the campaign.

"After the election, I took the initiative by visiting all of the candidates who ran against me; this shows I have no grudges towards anyone." Please accept our apologies for our lack of cohesion. Those who opposed me, I know you have a regional strategy. "Every advice and approach is welcome," he stated.
