As the internal elections of the New Patriotic Party near their conclusion, the attention is increasingly on the Presidential Primary. People are debating who will win the Presidential Primary next year in greater numbers than ever before.
The debates are centered on who is best capable of winning and becoming the NPP's flag bearer, as well as leading the party to break the eight-year streak. This is what the whole NPP membership wishes for. Given the rise of food production and the construction of infrastructure like as industries, roads, and railroads, it is hoped that H.E. President Nana Akufo-Addo would be the first president in the fourth republic to transfer over to a president-elect from his own party.
The leading runners in the race are Hon. Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, Hon. Dr. Akoto Afriyie, and H.E. Mahamadu Bawumia. Boakye Agyarko, Dr. Konadu Apreku, Addai Nimo, Joe Ghartey, Kennedy Agyapong, and Kwabena Agyapong are among the other members.
Supporters of these candidates are making remarks and offering reasons why their candidate should be considered. While some of these discussions are beneficial to aspirants, others do not appear to be.
In my opinion, it is critical to notice that any negative words against their pick in particular, as well as the party in general, might harm their decision, and one wonderful guy and politician made such remarks.
There are several positive attributes to each of the candidates. Ghanaians may now apply for passports and other crucial papers online, thanks to Vice President Bawumia's efforts.
Dr. Akoto Afriyie is known for expanding food production through the Planting for Food and Jobs initiative, which Alhaji Mohammed Issifu Pangadu, a former NDC MP for Ejura Sekyeredumase Constituency in the Ashanti Region, benefited so much from that he praised the PFJ Initiative and was attacked by the NDC for doing so.
With his industrialization effort in Ghana and Africa, Hon Alan Kyerematen is a godsend. He's converting rural regions into industrial parks, putting money in the pockets of young people who may otherwise fall into vices if they didn't have work.
Anything that escalates into a fight might be detrimental to the Party.
Instead of emphasizing the positive aspects of his selection, which might improve the NPP's chances in 2024 regardless of whether Bawumia is picked or not, Hon. Atta Akyea only made remarks that could harm the Party in general. In his attempt to promote Dr. Bawumia on Asaase FM, the MP made several things that he should not have made.
First, he stated that it is critical for the driver's partner to succeed him, meaning that the vice president should succeed the president. When the party picked Nana Addo over Vice President Aliu Mahama in 2007, where was he? Did Aliu Mahama not receive his education from a serving president?
If people remember what occurred in 2007, the vice president, like Aliu Mahama, might be driven away.
His second argument was that he was concerned that the NPP had been labeled an Akan party, and that in order to seem more national, the NPP should do everything necessary to eliminate the Akan name, which would include electing a non-Akan flag bearer.
This opinion is sad since it appears that certain NPP members are uncomfortable with the party's Akan roots. Despite the fact that the NDC is founded on Ewe, hardly one mentions it. Nobody talks about how strong the NDC is in the north. So, what's the problem with an Akan-based NPP?
