Man Utd put blank cheque on the table to sign £330,000-a-week playmaker – Report
Manchester United have been interested in luring Ousmane Dembele for a long time and the Frenchman is once again in the focus.
In the winter transfer window, on deadline day, the Red Devils held talks to lure the Les Bleus playmaker from Barcelona. The Spanish club asked for a fee of 20 million euros and the deal was off (Sport).
The former Rennes star’s contract at the Nou Camp will expire on 30th June and the Old Trafford outfit are pushing to finally secure his signature.
According to Catalan source, Erik ten Hag wants Dembele to join the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho in the attack next season.
Man Utd have made contact with the player’s representative, Moussa Sissoko, and have put a blank cheque on the table to get his signing done. However, the 25-year-old star is not tempted by the offer because the Red Devils will not be playing in the UEFA Champions League.
On the other hand, it is stated that he is looking to move back to France to join Ligue 1 champions, Paris Saint-Germain, who are prepared to make him earn way more than his current salary i.e. £330,000-a-week (ABC).
The 27-capped international was brilliant for Borussia Dortmund during his only season in Germany but since moving to Spain, he has been highly injury-prone.
In the last campaign, Dembele spent the first half of the season on the injury table and had his troubles with the Barcelona management. However, when fit, he excelled under the management of Xavi.
The World Champion, who can play in multiple offensive positions, made 21 appearances in the league (15 starts) and provided 13 assists to help Barca earn CL qualification.
In your opinion, should Man Utd press to secure his signing?
