Liverpool are closing in on Darwin Nez, but Benfica are looking for a minor change. In the meanwhile, FSG is working on an outward transfer.

Welcome to the daily Media Digest from Liverpool.com. It's difficult to keep up with everything that's going on at Anfield, from transfers to tweets. We gather it all in one place here, taking a sideways look at the day's media happenings from around the world. Credible, unbelievable, and everything in between.

Characteristics of Robertson are emphasized

The Nations League is still in progress. Yes, we'll forgive you for not being aware of the situation.

UEFA's experiment has not gone down well, with Virgil van Dijk and Kevin De Bruyne among the most high-profile players to expressed reservations about it.

Andy Robertson recently captained Scotland against Armenia, with the goal of putting the disappointment of missing out on the World Cup behind them. They won 2-0, and manager Steve Clarke singled out Liverpool's Jordan Henderson for praise.

"I have to bring up the captain." He was exceptional. Before the game, he was great in the locker room. Leaders such as himself, John McGinn, and Callum McGregor lead us onto the pitch in a positive frame of mind.

"They gave three terrific performances, but I thought the skipper was outstanding."

"In general, he's fantastic." Andy has progressed into the role of captain and leader. And that's something that isn't discussed nearly as much as it should be."

Liverpool is fortunate to have a locker room full of leaders. It can't be a bad thing to have numerous national captains on the same team. Jürgen Klopp will only hope that Robertson is able to get some rest before the start of another demanding season.

Minamino is approaching the exit.

Takumi Minamino is 'closing in' on a move away from Liverpool. Five clubs, including four from the Premier League, are interested in signing him.

That's according to David Lynch, who wrote about it in yesterday's issue of This is Anfield. He reports Liverpool has set a £17 million asking price, with Leeds, Southampton, Wolves, and Fulham all expressing interest. Monaco is also being discussed.

Minamino finished last season as Liverpool's top scorer in both of the domestic cup competitions, which Klopp's team won. FSG would more than double their money if they sold at or around the proposed price range, compared to the £7.25 million they paid Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020.

Benfica is looking for a deal with Nez.

According to reports, Liverpool is close to completing the signing of Darwin Nez. Benfica has established a high asking price, but FSG has refused to back down, and a deal now appears more likely than not.

There are, however, a few details to work out. According to the Express, Benfica still needs one of two things to happen before they can agree on a transfer cost with Real Madrid.

Liverpool was apparently offered the option of just increasing the money provided up front. Currently, it is estimated that £69 million has been secured. Benfica might also opt for a 'better' add-ons package, which would probably include a mix of more attractive bonuses and more realistic terms.

Nez would already be one of the most expensive Liverpool transfers of all time even if none of these alterations were made. As a result, FSG's final stage of discussions is extremely delicate. Julian Ward is getting his baptism of fire.
