Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, the National Chief Imam, has learned about the murder of Catholic worshippers in Owo, Ondo State, Nigeria.
"I was shocked to learn about the terrorist attack on the Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State, and the people of this region of Nigeria. He remarked yesterday through his spokesperson Sheikh Arimiyao Shaibu, "It is a sad occurrence that would cause pain and sorrow in every society where it occurs."
"On behalf of the Muslim community and myself, I send my sympathies to the Catholic Church, especially in Nigeria, Ghana, and the rest of the globe," he continued.
He promised the bereaved families, the state, Nigeria as a nation, and the entire Catholic brotherhood that he would be there for them.
and Muslims throughout Ghana feel the anguish of the barbaric atrocity perpetrated against them.
"We hope that God would provide peace and comfort to those who have been impacted by the Ondo State Governor and President Muhammadu Buhari, both directly and indirectly," the priest said.
The Chief Imam went on to say that the heinous act of terrorism came on the heels of a recent meeting with the Catholic Church's leadership to discuss methods to ensure interfaith harmony. He went on to say that this has become an annual event on the country's religious calendar.
Many attendees were killed when a church in Ondo State, Nigeria, was assaulted by highly armed individuals a few days ago.
Only evil-minded people, according to a priest who was interviewed, would perpetrate such atrocities on believers.
According to him, attendees were being fired at inside the church, and those who made it outside were not spared from the assailants' gunshots. The assailants also threw a grenade inside the church, according to him.
Such acts of terrorism were previously limited to Nigeria's northern regions, but with the Ondo incident, it appears that the criminals have set their eyes on the country's southern regions, adding to the federal government's and security apparatus' security burdens.
