Official: Modric renews at Real Madrid until June 2023

It's official. Real Madrid have this Wednesday afternoon confirmed that Luka Modric has renewed his contract at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu. The club and player, as MARCA had been reporting, have agreed on an extension of the player's contract until June 30, 2023. In confirming Modric's new deal, Real Madrid are continuing to build their squad for the 2022/23 season, in which they'll seek to defend their status as Spanish and European champions. After the official confirmation of the capture of Antonio Rudier and the completion of Aurelien Tchoumeni's signing, Real Madrid have taken another step towards finalising the squad that will work under Carlo Ancelotti next season. As far back as November 2021, MARCA had been reporting that Los Blancos were hoping to extend Modric's contract for another year. Now, they've got the job done and the Croatian is tied down for the coming season.

Madrid [Spain]: Real Madrid CF and Luka Modric have reached an agreement to extend the player’s contract until June 2023. Modric put pen to paper on his contract extension on Wednesday, where he was joined by club president, Florentino Perez. After signing the contract, the Croatian was presented with a shirt that featured his name and ‘2023’ on the back. The Croatian midfilder lifted his fifth Champions League crown this term and has racked up 436 appearances in a Madrid shirt. He also bagged the Golden Ball at the 2017 Club World Cup, the Silver Ball in the 2016 edition and he has made the FIFA FIFPRO Men’s World11 on five occasions. His 436 outings in Los Blancos’ colours have come across the following six competitions: La Liga (294), the Champions League (99), the Copa del Rey (24), the Spanish Super Cup (nine), the Club World Cup (six) and the UEFA Super Cup (four).
