The cost of filling a 55-liter family car's tank with diesel has risen to £103.43 ($129.75), according to the motoring club.
"While gasoline prices have been breaking records on a regular basis," RAC fuel spokesman Simon Williams told the BBC, "households up and down the country may never have anticipated to see the cost of fueling an average-sized family car approach three figures."
The highest daily increase in petrol prices in the UK occurred on Tuesday.
