ARSENAL'S transfer for Gabriel Jesus is now under serious threat after Chelsea and Tottenham both joined the race to sign him, according to reports.

While Arsenal have been the front-runner for a deal to sign Jesus for some time, this position now looks to be in jeopardy as their London rivals weigh in.

Jesus has been linked with a move away from Premier League champions Manchester City this summer, with the arrivals of Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland set to see him displaced from a starting role.

In addition, the Brazilian has just one year left on his current deal with The Citizens.

Arsenal have just lost Alexandre Lacazette on a free transfer back to Lyon and got rid of former captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January, so need fresh firepower.

But according to The Times, their North London rivals Spurs have been offered the chance to sign the 25-year-old by Man City.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have also registered their interest in him, with the ongoing saga of Romelu Lukaku's future meaning the club could allow the £100million flop to return to Inter this summer.

Jesus will certainly leave the club this summer, with City setting their asking price close to £50m, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The attraction of Champions League football could prove too great an obstacle to overcome for the Gunners after they lost out on a top-four spot to Spurs with two defeats from their final three games.

However, Mikel Arteta's side have identified other targets if they miss out on Jesus, with the likes of Serie A striker Gianluca Scamacca on their radar.

Jesus can play anywhere across the attack, turning out most typically as either a striker or right-winger.

,He has scored 95 goals and contributed 45 assists in 236 games since joining City in 2017.

Pep Guardiola has described Jesus as "the best in the world" for defending from the front and his tireless work rate in his pressing is something many of the top teams desire in a modern striker.
