The Asuk)d) documentary on the poultry business by Adom FM/TV, which exposed concerns in the industry, has led to the emergence of new concerning issues in the sector.

One of the most recent revelations is how a four million cedis facility in Gomoa Potsin in the Central Region, which was put up to process chicken locally, is going to waste.

At Gomoa Potsin, a $4 million chicken processing plant is going to waste.

The plant was created somewhere in 2017, according to Kofi Brobbey Akyei, the owner of Aglow Farms, who shared his story on Adom FM's Current Affairs Program Burning Issues, hosted by Akua Boakyewaa Yiadom.

They were in business for around one and a half years after their founding before ceasing operations.

According to him, they had a contract with certain firms that were buying their items when they first started out, but their clients changed their minds along the line.

The high importation rate as well as the benchmark value are the reasons for the establishment's failure.

"Every six months, we meet with our clients for a business review, and at one of these meetings, they told us that because of the benchmark value the government has implemented, they can no longer afford to buy from us since they can import chicken at a lower cost than ours," Mr Kyei said.

Mr Kyei explained the plant's cost by stating that the dollar rate equivalent at the time was four million Ghana Cedis, but that if he compares the two, the factory would cost four million Ghana Cedis.

He also debunked assertions that the corporation is part of the government's flagship 1D1F program.

Mr Kyei stated that Exim Bank helped him create the firm, but it is terrible that the entire investment has gone to waste.

"The company provided direct and indirect jobs to individuals in the neighborhood, but now that we are no longer in business, these people are jobless," he said.
