‘I Would Be Happier For Messi Than For Myself’ Leandro Paredes Determined For World Cup Glory

The 27-year-old spoke to Radio La Red(Via Mundo Albiceleste) about his determination to win the World Cup for Messi. He said: “If we win the World Cup, I would be happier for Messi than I would be for myself. Hopefully it will not be Messi’s last World Cup. It’s difficult to go through four more years to play a World Cup. Let him play as a number five and I’ll move back, haha.” “Everyone has a chance to be world champions. We are going to try.” The World Cup in Qatar is most likely going to be Messi’s last chance at winning the trophy. He and his country came desperately close to winning the 2014 edition in Brazil but lost out to Mario Gotze’s extra time goal as Germany took him the prize after a 1-0 victory. For this year’s competition, Argentina are in the same group as Saudi Arabia, Poland and Mexico. Messi and his team mates are expected to get through the group with relative ease as they are currently basking in great form. They recently claimed the 2022 Finalissimina after a convincing 3-0 victory over European champions, Italy. Messi was awarded Man of the Match after providing two assists in yet another influential display. He then backed that up by scoring all five goals in Argentina’s 5-0 international friendly win over Estonia. This was the second time in Messi’s entire career that he had scored five goals in a game. He previously did the same in a Champions League game against Bayern Leverkusen back in 2012, the seven times Ballon d’Or winner was playing for Catalan giants Barcelona at the time. Despite a difficult first season with PSG, Messi’s form for Argentina has been superb, as a result, Paredes has labelled Messi as the only guaranteed starter in the squad. He said: “I feel the support but I’m not undisputed (starter). The only one is Leo Messi. The rest of us have to show that we are at the level of the national team. Dibu, Cuti, Rodri, Gio and Lautaro have been doing well for a long time. But only Messi is undisputed.” The 2022 Qatar World Cup will get underway on Monday 21 November with Senegal vs Netherlands. England will also feature on the first day as Gareth Southgate's side go up against Iran.

Neymar risks Lionel Messi relationship with cutting response to Argentina victory song

The two superstars are close friends and teammates at club level for Paris Saint-Germain but share an intense rivalry on the international scene with their rival nations Argentina players celebrated winning the Finalissima against Italy at Wembley Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar has mocked Argentina’s celebrations following their triumph in the Finalissima clash against Italy at Wembley. Last summer, Lionel Messi played an inspirational role as his nation won the Copa America title – their first trophy since 1993. That title ensured their participation in the 2022 Finalissima on Wednesday night against Italy, the European champions, at Wembley. Messi was named Man of the Match in a glittering performance as Argentina cantered to a two-goal victory. Messi’s PSG teammate Neymar starred for Brazil at last summer’s Copa America, which was held in his native nation, but was eventually a losing finalist but the Selecao lost to their arch-rivals in the showpiece. It was a painful match for Neymar, just as it was for all of his international teammates, although they did win the tournament two summers prior. Neymar was less than impressed with Argentina’s celebrations after the match, with videos circulated on social media of the Argentine players chanting in their dressing room at Wembley. "What happened, Brazil? Are you still waiting? What happened, Brazil? In the favelas they're all crying. The years go by, you remember the 50s Cup? They're all s***, they're afraid it will happen again. "Because Messi has the crown. And the left leg with the magic that enchants you. To make it worse, remember Maradona? I know it hurts you, that it hurts you, but this Cup belongs to Argentina." Have Your Say! Are Argentina and Brazil major contenders for this year’s World Cup in Qatar? Tell us what you think here. Neymar hit back at the chant over Instagram Neymar hit back with the response on Instagram : "Did they win the World Cup?" Of course, Neymar is frieds not only with Messi but with Leandro Paredes and Angel di Maria, whom he has played alongside at club level for PSG. A similar incident occurred earlier this season, when midfielder Paredes posted a photo of himself alongside Messi and Di Maria alongside a caption to accompany the photo: “in good company” – as they were pictured alongside the Copa America trophy. Unsurprisingly, their club teammate and international rival Neymar responded to the post by swearing at the trio. Neymar showed that he was not really angry with his club teammates for posting the photo, by adding an emoji of a laughing face to his post. While there is little sign of genuine friction between the players, the latest update suggested a more frayed situation with Argentina players openly mocking Brazil with the victory with Neymar hitting back and without any emojis to suggest he was joking.
