Manchester United are making great headway in their pursuit of Antony from AFC Ajax this summer, according to Goal Brasil. The Brazilian winger's representatives have traveled to Europe to discuss a transfer to the Red Devils.

Antony came through the youth ranks at Brazilian club Sao Paulo and joined Ajax in the summer of 2020. He ended the 2021/22 campaign with an impressive return of 12 goals and ten assists from 33 matches in all competitions. The likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Chelsea have been linked with the Brazilian international at some point in the recent past. Manchester United, too, have entered the race for the speedy winger.

The 52-year-old Dutch strategist took over as Manchester United boss last month, succeeding interim manager Ralf Rangnick. And ten Hag is aiming to establish his own team in order to guide the 20-time English champions back to the top of the table.

Manchester United's striking department requires reinforcements since it appears to be lacking in talent. Marcus Rashford had a terrible season last season, while Jadon Sancho had a quiet first season following his big-money move from Borussia Dortmund. Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata are both departing, leaving voids in the team.

Anthony Elanga was one of Manchester United's few bright spots and might play a role. And, considering their long-standing issues at the position, the Red Devils need a new right-sided winger. To that purpose, Antony has emerged as a club target and might be viewed as a ready-made answer for the right-wing position.

Antony's entourage has now arrived in Europe to discuss and hopefully finalize a transfer agreement with Manchester United. The presence of ten Hag helps the Red Devils' case, and the club has an excellent working connection with Ajax, which should only strengthen their case in acquiring the winger.

If the deal goes through, it is likely to cost €60 million, with about €10.6 million going to Antony's hometown club, Sao Paulo. Manchester United is interested in more than only Antony, with Jurrien Timber also on their radar.
