David Beckham ignores Manchester United teammates when naming the best player he's ever played with.
During his time at Manchester United, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC Milan, and Paris Saint-Germain, Beckham played alongside some of the greatest footballers of all time.
England football legend David Beckham has snubbed all of his former Manchester United teammates when asked who was the best player he ever played with.
Beckham spent the first decade of his senior career with Manchester United, before moving on to Real Madrid, AC Milan, LA Galaxy, and Paris Saint-Germain. He was also a member of the England national team for 13 years, serving as captain for six of those.
That meant he got to play alongside legends like Ryan Giggs, Eric Cantona, Zinedine Zidane, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Ronaldinho, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. When Beckham was asked who the greatest player on his team was, he could only name one of those greats.
Gary Neville's The Overlap YouTube channel's 29 questions series featured the legendary winger as the latest subject. Among the topics covered was his best former teammate, with Beckham ignoring his fellow United greats.
Beckham responded to Neville by naming Zidane as the best player he has played with. "The best player I've ever played with, apart from you, Zidane," Beckham said.
Beckham spent three years at Real Madrid alongside Zidane, winning the Supercopa de Espana with him. That would be their only trophy during their time at the Bernabeu, with Zidane retiring a year before Beckham left for LA Galaxy.
Zidane is widely regarded as one of the greatest attacking midfielders of all time, having won the World Cup, Champions League, La Liga, and Serie A over the course of his 18-year career. It does, however, imply that Beckham ignored the players with whom he worked at United.
That is perhaps surprising given that Old Trafford was Beckham's most successful period in terms of trophies. During his time with United, he won six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, and the Champions League.
Beckham did give something back to United, however, by naming club legend Bobby Charlton as the player from the past he would have preferred to have played with. He explained to Neville: "He was my father's hero, which is why my middle name is Robert. So I wished I could have played with Sir Bobby."
