ARSENAL'S MISTAKES IN THE TRANSFER MARKET:TRENDING

Arsenal has been sluggish in the transfer market, having yet to make a substantial acquisition this summer. Arsenal, on the other hand, permitted Alexandre Lacazette to return to Lyon as a free agent. This is seen as bad business because the club paid 53 million euros for him and now allows him to leave for free. Lacazette isn't the only high-profile Arsenal player who has been allowed to leave for nothing.

Arsenal made the same error with the exits of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Mesut Ozil, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Imagine signing these four players for a total of 197.75 million Euros and not profiting from their departures. This means that Arsenal has 197.75 million Euros transfer lost for these four players. Judging by the way these four players performed for Arsenal, one wouldn't believe that Arsenal didn't make any single profit from their departure.

It was Aubameyang's departure that shocked the world as Arsenal paid 7 million pound to terminate his contract that remained 18 months. Aubameyang joined Barcelona on a deal that will expire in 2025. He was expected to earn atleast 2 million Euros in his first six months at Barcelona due to the clubs financial situation, but his wages will increase in the 2022/23 season. This shows that Arsenal are guilty of always allowing their best players leave as free agents.

They could have made made a fortune if they have sold these players. It is obvious that Arsenal believes in a player running down their contract rather than selling them to make profit just like other clubs like Dortmund, Monaco, Benfica and others. However, it is obvious that Pepe hasn't live up to expectations and Arsenal might not want to sell him now to re over some of the money they spent on signing him. They might repeat the same mistake on Pepe and make another transfer loss.
