Former striker Robbie Keane told Stats Perform that he believes Antonio Conte is putting together a squad at Tottenham that will end the club's long drought for trophy.
Spurs pulled off a coup by hiring Conte as their head coach last November, after bringing Nuno Espirito Santo's career to an early end.
The north London team was in eighth place in the Premier League when Conte took over, but a strong second half of the season saw them jump close rivals Arsenal to fourth place.
Indeed, Tottenham's 71 points in the 2021-22 Premier League season were more than they had collected in only three previous seasons (86 in 2016-17, 77 in 2017-18 and 72 in 2012-13).
Conte likened getting Tottenham back into the Champions League as "being a trophy," despite the fact that the squad hasn't won a trophy since winning the EFL Cup in 2008.
Conte has already begun to strengthen his team in preparation for the 2022-23 season, with Inter expected to sign experienced winger Ivan Perisic, a league winner in both Germany and Italy, on July 1.
Other big names have been linked, and Keane, who spent eight and a half years in two stints with Tottenham, believes the newcomers can help the club win titles.
"I think what he's trying to do is get the business in early," Keane said ahead of his participation in the Soccer Aid charity event on Sunday.
"Inter have already brought in Perisic, a player with a winning mentality. He has certainly achieved success in his endeavors.
"That, I believe, is what Conte is aiming for. Because many Tottenham players have yet to win a trophy, he wants to bring in individuals who have already been there and done it.
"Two to get someone in like him," the entrepreneur continues, "and I'm sure they'll do more business in the next month or so."
Conte has a track record of winning major trophies as a manager, having previously won the Premier League and FA Cup with Chelsea.
"Conte is a winner. He has a winning attitude, which he will undoubtedly bring to the table "Keane continued, saying
"Tottenham needs to win something next season, whether it's the FA Cup, the EFL Cup, or the Champions League. In my perspective, the Premier League is a step too far.
"I believe they have a chance if they sign three or four players, but Liverpool and Manchester City are simply too far ahead right now.
"However, I believe that winning the FA Cup and the EFL Cup is a step in the right direction, as is possibly finishing in the top four again."
Unlike a year ago, when Harry Kane's potential departure dominated headlines, Tottenham's entire focus this transfer window is on adding to the roster.
The England international has been more settled since Conte's arrival, as he scored five goals in Tottenham's final five Premier League games in 2021-22.
Kane now has 17 Premier League goals this season, which is tied for his second-lowest total in the division in his eight seasons as a regular starter, with 2018-19.
Son Heung-min outscored him, and despite ending as the league's equal top scorer with Mohamed Salah, he was left out of the PFA Team of the Year.
Son was not among the nominees for the Players' Player of the Year award, much to Keane's surprise.
"It's strange that I wasn't even nominated," Keane explained. "In my opinion, he's one of the best players in the Premier League.
"What he and Kane are doing at Tottenham is great.
"I've been teaching Harry since he was a child! He's a talented player who has continued to score goals in the past."
