Given Liverpool's recent purchase history and Jurgen Klopp's coaching ability, Cafu believes Darwin Nunez will flourish if he joins the club.

Bayern Munich has shown interest in Sadio Mane on several occasions, with the Bundesliga champions wanting to sign the Senegal international.

Bayern Munich are said to have had a second proposal for Liverpool star Mohamed Salah rejected earlier this week, but they are set to press on with their pursuit.

Mane's departure would allow Liverpool to sign Nunez, who has been linked with a big-money transfer to Anfield worth up to €100 million (£85 million).

Nunez has 48 goals in 85 games for Benfica in all competitions, averaging 1.2 goals per 90 minutes last season in the Portuguese Primeira Liga.

Last season, the 22-year-old scored 34 goals in 41 appearances across all competitions, including six Champions League goals against Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Ajax, and Liverpool.

Following the success of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, and Alisson, as well as more recent transfers like Thiago and Luis Diaz, Cafu believes Liverpool rarely make mistakes in the transfer market.

Cafu told Stats Perform at a media day ahead of his involvement in Sunday's Soccer Aid charity event, "Look, every time Liverpool buys a player, it's a spot-on purchase."

"Klopp is a very, very excellent coach; he's done well at Liverpool for many years, and if he wants this player, it's because Liverpool wants to bet a lot on him."

Cafu also spoke on the achievement of his previous club Roma, who won their first major European title this season in the Europa Conference League under Jose Mourinho.

The Giallorossi had not won a competition since the Coppa Italia in 2008, and Cafu, who won the Scudetto with Roma in 2001, was overjoyed to see his former club prevail.

"Winning trophies in Rome is challenging, but not impossible." He continued, "We won, we celebrated, and we've been partying until now."

"Congratulations to Mourinho and the entire club on a fantastic season that included winning the Conference League, and let's hope they can keep it up."

"It's a place where they celebrate for a long time when they win." I hope they have a wonderful holiday season."

Cafu, on the other hand, declined to draw parallels between Mourinho's victorious team and the Roma ones in which he participated.

"It's not that we were better; it's just that you can't compare," he added. "It was a Scudetto-winning squad, we won a lot of amazing things, and this team won as well, but you can't compare a winning team."
