Liverpool make a U-turn on Nat Phillips after a good loan spell at Bournemouth.

Nat Phillips had a good season in the Championship with the Cherries, guiding Scott Parker's team to promotion, and there are suggestions that the defender could be on the move again this summer.Liverpool are considering allowing defender Nat Phillips to return to Bournemouth on a season-long loan next season.

After helping the Cherries gain promotion back to the Premier League after a successful six-month tenure with the south-coast club, the Reds were ready to cash in on the 25-year-old centre-back.

However, Phillips' outstanding showing has sparked a change of heart at Anfield, with some believing he might grow into a long-term successor for Joel Matip. Phillips, a Bolton native, signed a four-year deal with Liverpool last summer after impressing Jurgen Klopp during the injury crisis that saw Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip, and Joe Gomez sidelined.Following the trio's return to action and the signing of Ibrahima Konate, he was permitted to leave on loan to Bournemouth in January. Phillips has made himself at home at the Vitality Stadium, both on and off the field.

And Liverpool is now considering allowing him to return to the Premier League for a season in exchange for a loan fee from Bournemouth.

"I've liked every minute of it," the defender said of his time on the south coast with Scott Parker. When others have asked me about it, I've always answered that he's incredibly detailed and meticulous in the way he plans games."In terms of the directions that he gives us, the way that he sets his teams and approaches games is quite obvious. Also, the messages he wants to communicate to us, as well as the sessions he holds, are very much in line with what we hoped to accomplish.

Jurgen Klopp has the option of loaning Nat Phillips back to Bournemouth, but he wants to keep him long-term.
