Liverpool maintains its stance on Sadio Mane's fee, while Bayern Munich agrees to contribute to the Darwin Nunez deal.

After rejecting an improved second offer of £30 million, which included add-ons, the Reds are refusing to let the German giants get Mane on the cheap.

Liverpool are awaiting Bayern Munich's offer for Sadio Mane before making a move for Benfica's brilliant young striker Darwin Nunez.

The Reds are refusing to let the German giants sign Mane on the cheap after rejecting an improved second offer of £30 million with add-ons.

Bayern Munich's board of directors is set to meet again in the coming days to decide their next move, with Liverpool demanding £42.5 million for a player who has developed into one of the game's most lethal forwards during his six seasons at Anfield.

This would result in Liverpool making an official bid to sign Uruguayan talisman Nunez ahead of Manchester United.

Liverpool has yet to make a bid for Nunez, who has a buy-out clause of £85 million.

Anfield officials have informed the Lisbon club that if Mane leaves, they are willing to pay a fee in excess of £70 million, as well as a package of add-ons.

The structure and value of the bonus payments are viewed as the only potential stumbling block to a deal being reached once Bayern come up with the cash for Mane.

However, Liverpool sources confirmed that there is still work to be done with both Benfica and Bayern before a medical can be scheduled.

Mane has stated that he is looking for a new challenge in Germany.

The Senegal international had another sensational season, winning the FA Cup and Carabao Cup while coming agonizingly close to winning the Champions League and Premier League.

However, he has only one year left on his contract and turned 30 in April.

Allowing Mane to run down his contract before leaving for free next summer, according to Liverpool, represents better value than accepting either of Bayern's two opening offers.

The Bundesliga champions have been rocked by Robert Lewandowski's demand to join Barcelona and would require a spectacular signing to appease their fans if the Polish striker is able to force his departure.
