Amine Gouiri, who has been compared to Karim Benzema by many, has been linked with a move to Real Madrid. Gouiri has spoken up about the parallels to Real Madrid's star player.
Since joining Nice from Lyon in 2020, Gouiri has established himself as one of Europe's most promising young forwards. In his most recent season, the 22-year-old attacker appeared in every Ligue 1 and Coupe de France game, scoring 12 goals and providing ten assists in 43 outings.
Gouiri has also scored seven goals in 18 appearances for the French U21 team, and his impressive performances have apparently piqued the interest of some of Europe's biggest teams.
The starlet is a target for Real Madrid, according to writer Roman Alvarez (as reported by Spanish outlet Fichajes).
Florentino Perez and Real Madrid, on the other hand, recognize that the attacker needs to develop before he can compete with Benzema, therefore the 34-year-old would benefit from working closely with his fellow Lyon youth squad graduate.
According to the Spanish newspaper, Gouiri cost Nice €7 million two years ago, but his market value is now closer to €50 million.
Amine Gouiri, a Real Madrid target, hasn't ruled out a third season at OGC Nice.
Despite an impressive season under Christophe Galtier, in which Nice had the second-best defensive record in the French top flight, Gouiri's side finished fifth and will play in the Europa Conference League next season.
According to Get French Football News, the teenager was asked about his future if Nice finished second in the league in March, and he replied:
A third season in a Nice shirt isn't out of the question. It would be great for my development if I could play for Nice in the Champions League."
The former Lyon striker, on the other hand, has big goals in the game, including aspirations to play for the French national team. Of course, there is tough rivalry for a spot in Didier Deschamps' squad right now, but current centre-forwards Karim Benzema and Olivier Giroud are both in their mid-30s.
In the race for Champions League football, Gouiri's team eventually fell behind. When asked if he needed to play in Europe's top club tournament to break into the Les Bleus squad, he said, "I don't think so."
Maybe… Last year, I competed in the Europa League. I study the squad lists, and we occasionally discuss them in the locker room. We're not criticizing the choices, though."
