Andrea Pirlo has been out of management for a year after being sacked by Juventus in May 2021 Andrea Pirlo has been appointed manager of Turkish Super Lig club Fatih Karagumruk. The former Juventus boss and ex-Italy midfielder has signed a one-year deal having been out of management since last summer. Pirlo, 43, was sacked by Juventus in May 2021 despite winning the Italian Cup and Super Cup. He was dismissed after they finished fourth in Serie A to miss out on the title for the first time since 2012. Pirlo played for Inter Milan, AC Milan and Juventus and also made 116 appearances for Italy, including winning the 2006 World Cup. Fatih Karagumruk, founded in 1926, have never won the Turkish title, finishing eighth last season.

This is Pirlo’s second chapter as manager after the Juventus job one year ago. Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain president, Nasser Al Khelaifi, has decided to sack manager Mauricio Pochettino. This was disclosed by respected football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano. Romano, who disclosed this in a tweet via his Twitter handle on Sunday, said Pochettino’s departure will be officially confirmed in the coming days. He tweeted: “Nasser Al Khelaifi decided to sack Mauricio Pochettino even before the appointment of Luís Campos as new director. So it’s Paris Saint-Germain decision, not up to Campos. “Pochettino’s departure will be officially confirmed in the coming days. No statement for Leonardo.”

His new club finished eighth in the Turkish top flight last season but are said to have ambitions to challenge Istanbul's giants at the top of the table.
