Wolves Favourites To Sign Liverpool Forward

Wolverhampton Wanderers have moved ahead of Liverpool in the race to recruit Takumi Minamino this summer. Former bookies' favourites to recruit the Japanese international were Leeds United, but a transfer to the West Midlands now appears to be the most likely outcome for the forward.Minamino joined Liverpool for £7.25 million from RB Leipzig in January 2020, but he has struggled to hold down a regular spot in Jurgen Klopp's side. In 2021, he was loaned to Southampton, and he only played 11 matches for Liverpool in the Premier League past season.

Southampton's Takumi Minamino

Minamino has thrived in the Reds domestic cup campaigns despite his lack of game time in the Premier League and Europe. With seven goals in nine games last season, the 27-year-old was the club's leading scorer in both competitions.

Last season, Bruno Lage's team finished fourth in the league in terms of scoring, so they'll be looking to beef up their front line. According to reports, the Reds value Minamino at roughly £17 million as they attempt to raise finances to pay the cost of their club-record transfer for Benfica striker Darwin Nunez, which is expected to be announced in the coming days.
