Dusan Vlahovic explain why he snubbed Arsenal for Juventus.
Dusan Vlahovic has said that a move to Arsenal was never a priority for him because he preferred to join Juventus.
The 22-year-old came to Turin in January for around £70 million, but had been extensively linked with a move to Arsenal before that, having ripped Serie A apart with Fiorentina, scoring 41 goals in 64 games.
Vlahovic told The Telegraph that he was never close to moving to the Emirates and that he wasn't even sure whether an official offer had been made.
"Perhaps my agent is aware of Arsenal's offer, but I never told anyone about it," he says "he stated "Because Juventus is Juventus, I only had one club in mind. There isn't much else to say. And now I'm ecstatic to have been awarded this jersey. Every time I put it on, it's fantastic.
"I recognize myself in their DNA." Juventus has a personality that is similar to mine. You never give up when you come here; you fight all the time and make the sacrifices. This was just what I had been looking for."
Arsenal are still looking for a striker and are hoping to recruit Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City, despite the fact that the Brazilian is getting interest from all across Europe and City is still pushing for him to sign a new contract.
Arsenal have confirmed the departure of Alexandre Lacazette, who has returned to Lyon, but they are hopeful of keeping Eddie Nketiah at the Emirates. Just a few months ago, the 23-year-old was eager to depart, but his impressive play towards the end of the season has opened the door to more first-team minutes.
The present contract for Nketiah is set to expire at the end of the month, but an agreement is anticipated to be made soon.
