A previously unheard tale about Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has surfaced, with the Portuguese once again demonstrating his enormous kindness on and off the field.
Cristiano Ronaldo, the Manchester United superstar, has once again shown his kind side, when it was revealed that he went out of his way to gift an opposing player with two shirts following a mid-match agreement.
The 37-year-old Portuguese attacker has continuously given throughout his long career, having been associated with a number of humanitarian projects both in his hometown and farther beyond. However, according to a recently found account, he goes out of his way to extend that attitude on the pitch.
Following a mid-game arrangement, former Malmo player Enoch Adu Kofi recently described how Ronaldo ensured he received two of his shirts after a battle between his side and Spanish giants Real Madrid. "We played Real Madrid in the Champions League in Malmo," he told Angel TV.
"A player was hurt, so I approached Ronaldo and asked for his shirt, but I didn't see him again after the game." He came to look for me in the locker room and gave me two jerseys.
The shirts would have been a small consolation for Kofi and his Malmo colleagues, who were on the receiving end of Ronaldo's goal-scoring instincts twice during the 2015/16 Champions League season. Los Blancos won the first match 2-0 in Sweden, with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring both goals.
They then followed it up with an emphatic 8-0 thrashing at the Santiago Bernabeu. During that contest, Ronaldo got himself on the scoresheet four times.
He went on to score an incredible 16 goals in the competition that season, helping Real win their third title of his career. Before leaving Spain for Italian powerhouse Juventus, Ronaldo added two more trophies to his tally.
In Turin, the forward was unable to add to his European medal haul, and he chose to return to Man United last summer. He will not play in the Champions League next season, after the Red Devils finished sixth in the Premier League last season under Ralf Rangnick.
He has already stated his desire to have a better season at Old Trafford next season under new manager Erik ten Hag. He said this earlier this month: "I know he did an excellent job with Ajax and is an experienced coach, but we must give him time and allow things to change in the way he desires.
"Of course, I hope we succeed because if you succeed, the rest of Manchester will succeed as well. As a result, I wish him the best. Not just the players, but also the fans, are delighted and excited. I wish him the best of luck, and let's hope we win trophies next year."
