The Convention Peoples Party (CPP) has asked Ghanaians, particularly the youth, to hold the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) accountable for improving citizens' livelihoods.
It urged Ghanaians, particularly the youth, to join forces with the CPP in order to overturn the status quo in 2024, emphasizing that "experience is the greatest teacher, we have done it before and we will do it again."
Anniversary
This was said in a statement made by the CPP's General Secretary, Nana Yaa Akyempim Jantuah, on Sunday, June 12, 2022, to commemorate the party's 73rd anniversary.
Dr Kwame Nkrumah and his companions founded the CPP on June 12, 1949, after breaking away from the NDC. He was the General Secretary of the United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC) at the time.
COVID-19 grants are available.
It urged the government to provide a full accounting of the funds spent to combat COVID-19 and to keep all commitments made to Ghanaians about the country's high cost of living.
"The CPP demands that the COVID-19 monies and any donations given to the country in the battle against the COVID-19 epidemic be held accountable." Ghanaians have a right to know how the COVID funds were spent, thus full disclosure is required," it stated.
It urged Ghanaians to join the CPP in demanding that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-government Addo's be accountable, transparent, and transparent.
Fulfill all commitments given to Ghanaians in order to improve livelihoods and people's lives.
The statement urged President Akufo-Addo to be judicious with the nation's resources, avoiding wasteful and unnecessary spending that did not help Ghanaians.
"How can we fail to protect current forest reserves while spending money to acquire 20 million seedlings to green Ghana? This is clearly a misplaced priority and a waste of money." It was stated.
Legacy
It asked members of the party and Ghanaians to remember the CPP because of the party's indelible record of extraordinary economic success under Dr Kwame Nkrumah's leadership.
The statement expressed hope that by working together, they would be able to achieve their goals.
