ERLING HAALAND has been officially confirmed as a Manchester City player this morning... and Darwin Nunez is set to follow suit by signing for Liverpool.

It means two of Europe's most prolific goalscorers will go head-to-head next season, but how do their career stats compare?

Both stats compare

Haaland was officially unveiled as a City player this morning

Nunez is expected to complete his Liverpool medical today

Well, £51million signing Haaland has the edge on goals scored.

In 138 league matches in his career the 21-year-old has bagged a remarkable 93 goals.

Meanwhile Nunez, 22, who is expected to complete his Liverpool medical today ahead of an £85m move, has netted 52 times in 104 league outings.

But Haaland's stats in Europe are nothing short of frightening.

In 25 games in the Champions League and Europa League, Haaland has bagged a remarkable 27 times, averaging a shade over a goal a game.

Nunez on the other hand has netted 11 goals in 25 matches across various international cups in Europa and South America.

That includes two against Liverpool in last season's Champions League, and while it is a respectable total, Haaland's is on a whole different level.

Haaland has also translated his stunning club form on to the international stage better than the soon-to-be Red Nunez.

The striker has netted an incredible 20 goals in 21 caps for Norway - including twice in yesterday's 3-2 win over Sweden.

Nunez meanwhile only has two goals to show for his 11 appearances for Uruguay.

Overall when domestic cups are also taken into a count Nunez averages 0.47 goals per game.

While a record of effectively a goal every other game is an impressive one, it's still some way short of Haaland's record.

The City new boy has averaged 0.77 goals per game in his short career to date.
The stats show they both have the ability to excel, but it's Haaland who holds the edge going into another Premier League season where City and Liverpool are expected to battle it out for top spot.
