"GARY SOUTHGATE IS CAPABLE OF DOING THE JOB". SAYS KANE

According to Harry Kane, Gareth Southgate knows what England needs to achieve. The Three Lions manager is now under fire.

England was pushed to a pair of draws against Germany and Italy in June, failing to win any of their three Nations League matches after a 1-0 loss to Hungary.

Relegation from Group A3 is still a possibility for England, who have only scored one goal in seven games, and preparation matches for the World Cup in Qatar are limited due to the competition's mid-season scheduling, giving Southgate's team few opportunity to get into a rhythm before the tournament.

Southgate's ability to make the most of an abundance of attacking talent has been questioned in recent performances, and he has declared that he will 'not outstay his welcome' in the role.

Last year, Kane defended the man who guided England to their first international final since 1966, where the Three Lions were defeated by Italy in a penalty shootout in the Euro 2020 final.

"In the previous 50 years or so, I believe we have been one of England's most successful teams. As a result, I am confident that we are on the correct path." He mentioned this ahead of Tuesday's encounter against Hungary.

"Gareth is one of those people about whom I can't say enough positive things. Gareth is an excellent manager and a wonderful person, and we are all looking forward to working with on another major event." "I worked with him first with the Under-21s and then with the senior team, and I feel he fully understands what the England team needs to succeed."

"If you compare where we were in 2016 to where we are today," Kane continued, "I feel we have made great progress." We've surmounted a number of challenges in major tournaments by doing things that no England team has done in a long time.

"We'll keep working hard to improve and bring honor to the country. I feel we have done so, and we all have a genuine desire to win a major championship. In my opinion, it's still a possibility."
