Mr Kojo Bonsu, the flagbearer candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has pledged to pick his running partner from the Volta region if he is chosen as the party's presidential candidate.
He made this known to the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, chaired by His Majesty Togbe Tepre Hodo IV, Paramount Chief of the Anfoega Traditional Area and a member of the National House of Chiefs, when he paid a courtesy call on them yesterday.
The former Sports Authority Board Chairman noted that the NDC has often referred to the people of Volta as the NDC's "World Bank" for votes, but that the area has been the NDC's "backbone" from its creation and transition from the PNDC, according to him.
As a result, the former KMA chairman has stated that he will choose a running partner from the region to repay them for the many years of development famine they have endured, even when the NDC party was in power.
He stated that referring to the region as the "global bank" was incorrect and even disrespectful to him.
"Without the Volta Region, the NDC would not have been able to come to power and continue on the path that has already been inscribed in Ghana's history." On our upward march to triumph in 2024, I intend for my running companion to emerge from this region." Mr. Bonsu made a statement.
Togbe Adzatekpor, Paramount Chief of Avetime Traditional Area, Togbe Patamia Dzekley VII, Paramount Chief of Battor Traditional Area, Togbe Gbogbolulu, Togbe Vakpo, and Togbe Dzokoto were among the chiefs that attended the conference.
In keeping with custom, Mr Bonsu presented the Volta Regional House of Chiefs with many packs of varied soft drinks, water, local schnapps, and an undisclosed sum of money.
Mr Bonsu informed the chiefs that he was dedicated to making the Volta area a better environment for everyone to prosper.
The former Managing Director of GOIL also used the opportunity to thank the Volta people for their years of support for the NDC.
