Cristiano Ronaldo's heartfelt farewell message to Marcelo as he leaves Real Madrid
With Los Blancos, Brazilian won 25 trophies.
Marcelo received farewell messages from several generations of Real Madrid players, including Cristiano Ronaldo, after 16 seasons at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
The pair were clinical down the left flank during some of the club's most successful years, and the current Manchester United ace sent Marcelo an emotional note.
"More than a teammate, a brother given to me by football," Ronaldo wrote on Instagram.
"On and off the field, one of the greatest stars I've ever shared a dressing room with. In this new adventure, Marcelo, go for it all!"
Former teammates and captains also sent messages, with Marcelo being one of them.
"You came as a child. I don't know how many times I yelled, "Marcelooooo, come back!" Thank you for being such an inspiration. A big hug to you, my friend, and best wishes for the future "Iker Casillas posted about it on social media.
His Brazilian teammates, including those who will lead the next generation and other current teammates, also spoke out.
"Marcelo! Thank you very much! Legendary as the player with the most titles at the world's best club, "According to Vincius Junior.

"I can say I've played with the best left-back of all time," Toni Kroos wrote on Instagram.
Having played alongside legendary Real Madrid figures, messages from stars like Cristiano have made Marcelo's farewell all the more emotional.
"Real Madrid is and will always be your home." Florentino Pérez, who presented him with the gold and diamond insignia, said, "You should be very proud of everything you have accomplished at the best club in the world."
Real Madrid City hosted a tribute ceremony to Marcelo, a true club legend who leaves us after winning 25 trophies (a club record), appearing in 546 games, and scoring 38 goals. The ceremony began with the screening of an emotional video featuring images of the captain, followed by remarks from Florentino Pérez. "Today is an emotional day for all madridistas," said the club president, who presented Marcelo with Real Madrid's gold and diamond insignia. It is now a time of profound gratitude. Real Madrid would like to pay a heartfelt tribute to our great captain. A tribute to the young man who rose to fame at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.
