Develop Confidence in God
By Archbishop Charles Agyinasare
Day 166 (15/06/2022)
Philippians 1:6 "Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:"
Confidence is a true virtue of life; without it we cannot live a full life, we will not surmount challenges, we will not accomplish great feats and we will miss amazing opportunities. This is why our confidence as believers must be in God.
Your confidence in God will make you know that whatever God has started in your life will surely be brought to an expected end. This means that failure to have this confidence can hinder you from seeing God's promises manifest in your life.
Here are three ways to developing confidence in God:
1.? Meditate on God’s ever-abiding presence.
Joshua 1:9 "Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest."
To develop confidence, you must have a true revelation that God is with you and for you everywhere you go. For example, the shepherd boy David was stirred up in confidence the very moment he heard the defiance of Goliath. We are not told he even prayed about it first. But he could confront the giant because he was fully convinced that the Lord of hosts was with him.
2.? Be fearless.
Psalms 27:3 "Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident."
As we set out to walk in faith with God, there will be unending battles to destroy our faith, like Peter who started in faith walking on the sea. With a fearless mindset we must strengthen our confidence in God’s Word, knowing that victory is guaranteed over every circumstance. Therefore, give fear no place.
3.? Be mindful of what you hear.
2 Chronicles 32:8 (NLT) "He may have a great army, but they are just men. We have the Lord our God to help us and to fight our battles for us!" These words greatly encouraged the people."
What you listen to can either encourage you to advance or discourage you. The Scripture says that when the people of God heard the words of king Hezekiah, they were greatly encouraged. In the same way, we must deliberately seek to hear inspirational messages to develop confidence in God.
Precious one, meditate on God’s presence, be fearless and be mindful of what you hear if you want to develop confidence in God.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, grant me strength and wisdom as I seek to develop confidence in You, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
