Residents in Assin Juaben, Central Region, are using a police post left to rot in the jungle as a brothel to engage in sexual activities because police employees assigned to the duty post have refused to show up.
Former President John Dramani Mahama commissioned a police station on November 29, 2016, although it hasn't been used in a long time.
According to a report acquired by Kasapa News Yaw Boagyan, the police post was operated by police personnel for a short period after it was commissioned before being abandoned.
On a visit to the location, weeds had infested the pavement and the area surrounding the police station.
According to information received from residents, members from the Assin Juaben Community have sex in the police station because the rooms are always open.
When police officers are not on duty, drug users use it as a safe haven to smoke marijuana and cigarettes.
Residents said residents in an interview that they used to see police officers at the Post, including community police officers, but that they no longer come to work.
They feel that if police officers had reported to duty at the police station, armed robbery attacks on the Assin Fosu to Assin Yamoransa would have been reduced.
Some people urged that instead of being left to rot, the abandoned police station be turned into another facility, such as a Community Library.
"Because police officials at the Assin Juaben are not prompt, we occasionally go to Nyankomase Ahenkro, Assin Darman, and Abura Dunkwa to make a complaint whenever we have an issue."
As a result, they are requesting that the Inspector General of Police relocate them and replace them with other police officers who will be more timely at work.
