It was a brave re-visitation of home soil on Tuesday night for the public group in the wake of arriving at OR Tambo International Airport with the greatest take of decorations from a CAA African Senior Athletics Championships starting around 1993.

In Mauritius, South Africa got a sum of 36 platform places made of 9 golds, 13 silvers, 14 bronze to wrap sprinters up behind Kenya in the last standings. Kenya, who held the mainland crown, won 10 golds having gotten just 23 awards altogether.

The air terminal went into a brief halt as families, fans and different travelers, invited the group as they assembled to a roaring air of shouts and sounds vuvuzelas.

It was bittersweet tears euphoria for some as the air unfurled into routine.

"These are our legends and champions that we invite back to the nation," said a happy James Moloi, the President of Athletics South Africa. "They didn't surrender and stayed focussed in any event, when the weather conditions was unforgiving and threatening. They battled on until the end. That is the thing the genuine Mzansi soul is made of.

"We thank the entire group for the largest number of awards ever at the African title and we will involve this as a motivation to battle for the following African Senior Athletics Championships. This gives us any desire for moving exhibitions at the World Athletics Championships one month from now in Oregon, USA and the Commonwealth Games in England in August. It was extremely uplifting to see that a great deal of our young competitors are making the world to focus."
