Lionel Messi and his family were warmly greeted by fans as they arrived in Barcelona

Messi, 34, is a Barcelona legend, having played 778 times for the club and scoring 672 goals.

At the airport's entrance, enthusiastic fans urged their idol to sign jerseys and pose for photos.

Messi, ever the modest superstar, was gracious enough to greet fans before signing a variety of goods.

Wife Antonella could be seen off camera escorting their three children Mateo, Thiago, and Ciro to a vehicle.

The laid-back trio didn't seem to mind waiting for Messi to make his rounds among his adoring fans.

After ending his international responsibilities in South America, the Argentina star was sure to be overjoyed by the kind greeting.

Messi will now be able to kick his feet up and relax for a few weeks at his Barcelona residence.

Before last summer's unexpected transition to PSG, he had lived in the city permanently since 2000.

Messi won numerous trophies at Barca before joining PSG last summer

Messi, on the other hand, still has a high-end apartment in Barcelona and is expected to reconnect with old friends before returning to France.

During his career at Barcelona, Messi won ten LaLiga titles, four Champions Leagues, and seven Ballon d'Ors.

However, due to financial difficulties, the club failed to renew his contract at the last minute in July 2021.

It paved the way for Messi to join PSG on a free transfer, where he now plays alongside former teammate Neymar and World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe.

Messi's first season in France did not go as planned, with the Argentine scoring just six league goals, his lowest total since his Barca debut in the 2004/05 season.

Since then, there have been changes, with sports director Leonardo

Zinedine Zidane and Max Allegri are among the favorites to take over at the Parc des Princes.

However, whatever the next manager is, he or she will undoubtedly need to find a method to get the best out of Messi.
