Report: 'Phenomenal' Liverpool star could trigger Real Madrid transfer with a MOTM display tonight

Real Madrid could move for Sadio Mané after tonight’s final, according to reports. The Liverpool star has a little over 12 months left on his contract. This comes from AS. They claim that Real Madrid are prepared to get involved in the race for Sadio Mané. At the moment, that race involves Bayern Munich and Liverpool, of course. Mané’s contract expires in 2023, making this the final transfer window where Liverpool can receive a fee. Now, they’ll hope to extend his deal for a few more years and avoid that. Should the no.10 reject a new deal, though, it might be in Liverpool’s best interest to sell. And there’s where Madrid could get involved. AS say that a source close to the situation told them that a fine performance in tonight’s UEFA Champions League final could trigger Real’s serious interest. That would have them competing with Bayern, it seems. There has been interest from the Bavarians for weeks now and Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg said only yesterday that they’re feeling confident over Mané. All we know for sure is that this one won’t go away until Mané signs a contract with someone. Really, this sounds like pre-final talk coming out of Spain and nothing we’d be too worried about. Mané’s situation is a concern but we don’t see how a move to Real Madrid would benefit him. They’ve got Vinicius Jr on their left for a long time to come, while Karim Benzema is untouchable down the middle. UEFA MUST STOP! NEW CHAMPIONS LEAGUE COULD RUIN FOOTBALL Photo by Sebastian Frej/MB Media/Getty Images Jurgen Klopp complained just yesterday about such rumours. He mentioned how it’s ‘not the first’ Bayern rumour he’s dealt with before a final. This match is the talk of football, after all, and everyone wants to be involved in the discussion. Obviously, Mané’s future is genuinely a concern. He promises an answer this weekend – a ‘special’ one at that – and we can only hope he renews his deal at Anfield. We’ve seen him in remarkable form this season and keeping him around is surely in everyone’s best interests. Have something to tell us about this article?

Real Madrid eager to sign Arsenal target but Gunners still have key advantage

The Manchester City striker looks set to leave the Etihad this summer with Erling Haaland’s arrival likely to push him further down the pecking order in Pep Guardiola’s side. Arsenal are eager to sign him with reports suggesting the 25-year-old is willing to join the Gunners despite there being no Champions League football on offer next season. But according to Cadena Ser, the Brazil international has also now been offered to the Madrid giants. With Jesus seeking a €5million-a-year contract, Atletico will not pursue a move. However, Real Madrid are interested and do not believe City’s asking price – thought to be £50million – will be a problem. © Provided by Metro Jesus ended the 2021-22 season in sublime form (Picture: Getty) But the Champions League winners do face another major obstacle with La Liga sides only permitted to have three non-EU players registered. Real had hoped for a slot to open up with Vinicius Jr applying for a Spanish passport but that process is said to be taking longer than expected. That could leave Arsenal leading the race for his signature with strengthening his options up front a priority for Mikel Arteta at Arsenal this summer. Last season, Arsenal managed just 61 goals in 38 matches and fell away during the closing stages of a campaign that ended on a disappointing note as Tottenham snatched fourth place ahead of them. Jesus is reportedly ready to agree to a move to north London with Arsenal to offer a salary worth around £200,000-a-week in order to seal the deal. Speaking after he scored for Brazil against South Korea in a 5-1 win last week, Jesus suggested a decision could be imminent. He said: ‘I’m looking to see what’s best for me and above all, for my career. From Tuesday, we’ll see what is the best.’ For more stories like this, check our sport page.
