The former agent of Robert Lewandowski has stated why he believes the Polish striker has never played in the Premier League.

This summer, the 34-year-old has made it obvious that he wants to leave Bayern Munich.

He appears to be heading to Barcelona rather than any of the top English clubs.

And Cezary Kucharski, Lewandowski's agent till 2018, has shared his thoughts on why a move to the Premier League has never happened.

"I often heard Robert provide a silly justification about how much it rains in England," he told Sport1.

But I believe the actual reason was that he did not believe he could be as productive as he had been in Germany. That was something Robert was terrified of."

He went on to say: "Isn't it PSG? In the past, I wasn't allowed to engage with PSG since Robert's wife refused to travel to Paris." Maybe things have changed since then."

If a deal to Blackburn had not fallen through in 2010, things could have been quite different for Lewandowski.

Before he became an internationally renowned marksman, the Pole was scheduled to relocate to Ewood Park - until flights across Europe were grounded due to volcanic ash.

Instead, he joined Borussia Dortmund and subsequently Bayern Munich in 2014, where he has scored 344 goals in 375 matches.

Last season, he scored 50 goals in 46 games, earning him a second consecutive European Golden Shoe for his 35 goals in the Bundesliga.

Despite having one year left on his contract, Lewandowski made it obvious last month that he wants to leave Bayern.

"My era at Bayern is done," he stated. "I don't think I'll be able to play for this club much longer." Bayern is a serious club, and I don't believe they will keep me; I no longer want to play there.

The best option is to transfer. "I'm hoping they don't put a halt to me."

Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn, on the other hand, reacted vehemently to those remarks.

"I can't tell you why Robert chose this path," he stated. That kind of public declaration won't get you anywhere. Robert has twice been named world footballer in this city - I believe he should be aware of what he has at Bayern."
