A recent report on Manchester United's strong interest in Ajax talents Antony and Jurrien Timber has suggested that signing either player may be complicated.
As has been widely reported this summer, new Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is interested in two of his former players. Ten Hag has been interested in recruiting Ajax's Antony and Jurrien Timber, but it appears that landing either of the Dutch club's talents will be difficult.
In the case of Timber, Mike Verweij said that more and more Timber is leaning towards staying at the Dutch giants, with the chances of him staying now "quite big."
Timber might delay his transfer until January, according to The Mirror, because to concerns that his scant game time at United could jeopardize his hopes of appearing in this year's World Cup.
Jurrien Timber aspires to be a member of the Netherlands' World Cup squad.
Former Manchester United defender and current Ajax vice-captain Daley Blind earlier stated that he would support Timber's move to United "That is beyond my control. I can only suggest that Ajax must do everything possible to keep him." Blind appears to be getting his desire right now.
In the case of Antony, Verweij reported that United are set to express their interest in the Brazilian winger to Ajax.
However, due to the predicted high cost of an Antony to Manchester United transfer, United may be unable to finalize the transaction.
In Antony's two years at Ajax, the twenty-two-year-old winger has contributed twenty-nine league goals, playing a key role in Ajax's consecutive Eredivisie titles.
Times Sport revealed earlier this week that United are very keen in signing the winger this season. United, on the other hand, are apparently looking at other prospects and have not limited their hunt for a forward to just one place in the frontline.
Antony, a Brazilian winger, has become a favorite among Manchester United fans.
The summer's interest in Anthony has remained a theme, but with it frequently claimed that a midfield acquisition is the priority at Old Trafford, an offensive signing appears to be second on the list of must-dos at United.
With the team beginning pre-season in only twelve days, ahead of their opening encounter against Liverpool on July 12 in Bankok, the moment has come for United to start closing deals for potential transfer targets.
Ten Hag claimed in his first interview with the club that he intended to bolster the squad before the start of pre-season, saying, "We will start pre-season on 27 June and I will get a few of the squad, some of the individual players We aim to refresh the squad in specific spots."
