Liverpool has already made another large bid for the'special' player, and Madrid is now fighting back
Liverpool have already made an offer to Borussia Dortmund in the hopes of landing Jude Bellingham.
According to Cadena Ser, the Reds have made an offer of around £86.4 million for the 18-year-old.
However, following their victory in the Champions League final, they will reportedly face competition from Real Madrid for Bellingham.
Los Blancos are said to be preparing a £78 million bid for the Englishman. They'd reportedly be willing to let Bellingham return to Dortmund on loan for next season as part of the deal.
This would be due to their inability to sign up more non-EU players. According to reports, Vinicius Junior will become a Spanish citizen next year though, which would open up a spot for Bellingham.
Liverpool goes to war with Real Madrid once more.
It appears unlikely that Liverpool would have made a bid for Bellingham at this point.
It would be a remarkable statement of intent after having just spent £64 million on Darwin Nunez. But that's not how Liverpool does business. In most cases, no.
The presence of Real Madrid, on the other hand, is cause for concern, and it may prompt The Reds to do something they would not normally do.
After all, Liverpool was ready to compete with Real Madrid for Aurelien Tchouameni. In the end, the Frenchman spent around £85 million in the Spanish capital.
However, it appears that Tchouameni's personal preference overrode any financial considerations.
That would imply that Liverpool has the funds to go to war with the Spanish champions.
Bellingham appears to be well worth the trip. Former England player Paul Merson described him as "very special" on Sky Sports News earlier this year, according to the Liverpool Echo.
However, the smart money says that Bellingham won't be moving until next year.
If it comes down to personal preference, hopefully the Englishman in Bellingham will choose his homeland.
We still have a long way to go before we arrive. But this story isn't going away anytime soon, so buckle up.
