This summer, Barcelona has joined Chelsea in their pursuit of Sevilla's Jules Koundé.

According to a 'secret' source from Sport, the Catalan club believes the transfer is viable for roughly €60 million.

Xavi Hernández's side will be forced to pay this sum because their La Liga rivals are unwilling to accept any players in exchange for the defender.

The Blues, on the other hand, and what they're willing to give the 23-year-old.

The west London club is alleged to have made a 'astronomical salary request' to the France international. Barca can't compete on the same level since it would make him one of their highest-paid players, potentially causing internal strife.

The major task for the Blaugrana and Xavi is to persuade the former Bordeaux midfielder to join the Camp Nou by accepting half of Thomas Tuchel's offer. For the time being, the state of sport remains difficult.

Sevilla has also mentioned Barcelona's participation into the race to capture Koundé. They initially repeat Sevilla president José Castro's statements that the centre-back can only go if a €60-65 million deal is made this summer.

If the Spanish giants can 'alleviate their financial calamity,' they may be able to sign Julen Lopetegui's man. This, however, will not be their only issue in trying to recruit the Sevilla star, as Chelsea are also interested in him.

Koundé has 'already agreed' to a five-year contract with the Premier League club, which includes a wage that is two or three times that of Barcelona.

In reality, when the English team attempted to recruit him last August, these terms were detailed in 2021.

According to two reports, Barcelona likes the Frenchman but cannot match Chelsea's salary.

Sevilla, down their end, now ‘just wait’ for Chelsea, or Koundé’s other suitors, to meet their demands to carry out his deal this summer.

Liverpool fans have reacted to the news that striker Darwin Nunez has joined the club from Benfica on social media.

On Tuesday, the 22-year-old had his physical at the AXA Training Centre before signing a long-term contract and being introduced as a Liverpool player.

Nunez, a Uruguayan international, has the potential to break Liverpool's transfer record, surpassing the £75 million they paid Southampton for Virgil van Dijk in 2018.

Liverpool may pay up to £85 million for the transaction, but only £64 million will be paid up front, with the remaining £21.3 million contingent on appearances and individual and team success.

Fans flocked to Twitter to express their displeasure at Nunez, who will wear the number 27 shirt for Liverpool.

'This season, one of Europe's top finishers. 'Excellent signing!'
