In his quest to expose the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo-led administration for various unconstitutional violations involving the construction of a 5,000-seater National Cathedral, North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa claims that compensation to individuals whose houses were demolished is still in arrears.

The NDC MP claimed in a Facebook post that the Ghanaian government owed Waterstone Realty Ltd $6.5 million in compensation.

He further claimed that the government neglected to allot 1.26 acres of property in Ridge Residential Area to the corporation as a first-stage compensation.  This is because certain important members of President Akufo-administration Addo's are scurrying and plotting to purchase the same plot of property.

"In our latest exposé on the Akufo-Addo cathedral scandal, we reveal that despite the colossal unconstitutional withdrawals from the Consolidated Fund in excess of GHC200 million, and despite contractors abandoning site for lack of payment; Government still owes some of the people whose properties were demolished," Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa wrote on his timeline.

"The high-rise commercial luxury flats of Waterstone Realty Ltd were destroyed to the ground. According to estimates, they are entitled to $6.5 million in compensation. That amounts to GHC1.6 million at today's currency rate. Consider what GHC51.6 million, together with all of the other crippling compensation payouts, may accomplish in this weak economy.

"Given that the corporation has given the government notice that they will be going to court because they have run out of patience since November 4, 2021, we should anticipate Ken Ofori-Atta to make another unlawful withdrawal from the Consolidated Fund in the coming days.

"It's worth noting that, as is typical of this chaotic-property-grabbing government, the Lands Commission's allocation of approximately 1.26 acres of land at Ridge Residential Area as a first-stage compensation to Waterstone Ltd on August 12, 2020 has so far failed because powerful elements in the Akufo-Addo government are scrambling and scheming to buy the same piece of land — once again, not even the holy task of building the Lord's temple appears to be re

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa wrapped up his piece by saying, "What a colossal shambles! God rescue our Republic, from a personal promise to a national disaster."

Problems with the project recently

The project has been a source of contention in recent days, after the government's allocation of GHC25 million to the National Cathedral Secretariat as extra seed money for the project.

The revelation caused a rift between the administration and the Minority Caucus in Parliament.

The administration claims that the release is not budgeted for, notwithstanding the Minority's claims.
