Following the submission of a nomination by one of the most outspoken and active members of the ruling New Patriotic Party's (NPP) National Communications team, Ellen Ama Daaku to lead the party's women's wing, the incumbent, Kate Gyamfua, is facing an uphill struggle.
On the 15th of June 2022, Ellen Ama Daaku formally filed her nomination for the coveted post at the party's headquarters in Accra, with the goal of organizing more women for the party's triumph in the 2024 general elections.
The form, which was personally given by the aspirant, was greeted by the NPP's National Officers, who praised her efforts to contribute to the party's internal democracy.
Due to her deep involvement in grassroots politics, her special communication and lobbying skills, and her unwavering commitment to party activities, Ellen Ama Daaku, the Captain of the NPP's Loyal Ladies in the Bono East Region, has already received massive endorsement from some key party people, most notably the various women groups within the party.
The National Women Organiser candidate expressed her gratitude to the NPP National officials for the warm greeting at a press conference following the filing of the Nomination. She believed that by enshrining internal democracy in the party, the party's leadership would establish a fair playing field for all candidates before and during the election.
Ellen Ama Daaku, a final-year law student at the GIMPA, stated that she will run a clean, healthy, and fair campaign free of insults, personal attacks, and character assassination.
She told the media that it is part of her vision to restructure the party's women's wing from polling stations to national levels in order to address women's needs; build women's political capacity from polling stations to national levels, including TESCON, with the goal of increasing their numbers and activating their true potentials.
Elle Ama Daaku promised to rehabilitate the NPP Women's Wing's image, honor former female leaders, elevate more new female leaders, and guarantee that their opinions and contributions are heard.
She will also embark on a massive recruitment drive to attract more women to the NPP, especially floating and first-time voters, and will create socio-economic opportunities for all women officers from polling stations to national level, who mostly suffer great losses and neglect in spite of their contributions to the party.
