Darwin Nunez has Luis Suarez's support as he looks to make an immediate impact at Liverpool.
This Monday, the Reds announced that they had acquired the 22-year-old from Benfica on a "long-term contract." Nunez is reportedly costing Liverpool £64 million, with a further £21.4 million in future add-ons.
The striker joins after scoring 48 goals in 85 games for Benfica, leading the league in goals scored with 26 previous season.
He has started to establish himself at the international level and scored in both of Benfica's Champions League games against Liverpool.
Suarez played for Liverpool for three and a half years before leaving in 2014 for Barcelona, where he linked up with Lionel Messi and proceeded to score goals.
Later, he transferred to Atletico Madrid, which he left at the conclusion of the 2021–2022 campaign. At this point, the 35-year-old is looking for his next challenge.
Nunez posted a photo of the young forward in Liverpool on Instagram, and Suarez replied with the following statement: "And I was the first! The first in GOALS, I hope, will be you."
The 35-year-old Suarez set a lofty standard for Nunez with his 82 goals for Liverpool.
Nunez, a recent addition to the Reds, wrote back to Suarez: "I consider it an honor to continue down your path! Like you did in Liverpool, I hope I can perform!"
Alessandro Antonello, managing director of the Nerazzurri, claims that Romelu Lukaku has a "strong desire" to go back to Inter Milan.
Lukaku returned to Chelsea for a club record fee of £97.5 million in August after helping Inter win their first Serie A championship in more than a decade in the 2020–21 season.
The Belgian striker, who was dropped by Thomas Tuchel, has struggled in his debut season back in England, scoring just eight goals in 26 Premier League games.
