Mason Greenwood, a former Australian footballer, was arrested in January and has since been released on bail.
MASON GREENWOOD will appear in court for a bail hearing next week as the investigation into his arrest continues.
After being arrested on allegations of raping and abusing a woman, the Manchester United player will have his bail application considered in closed court next week.
The charges are still being investigated, and Greater Manchester Police have appealed to the courts to have his bail extended.
The hearing will take place at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court on Thursday, June 23.
However, the press and the general public will not be permitted to attend, and Greenwood, 20, is not expected to be present.
Greenwood was arrested in January after police received a report from a woman describing occurrences of physical assault concerning photographs and videos she had uploaded online.
The England striker was initially detained on suspicion of rape and assault, but was then charged with sexual assault and making threats to kill.
Before being released on bond, the young star spent three nights in police prison.
Cops stated in April that they were still investigating the claims and that they would seek to have Greenwood's bail extended, but that a court hearing wouldn't happen until mid-June.
The hearing will take place next Thursday, according to a court clerk from Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court.
Greenwood will not be obliged to attend, and it will not be held in open court.
Until further notice, United has announced that the player will not be available for selection or allowed to train with his teammates.
"We are aware of photographs and allegations circulating on social media," the club said in a statement."
We will not make any additional statements until the facts are known.
"Manchester United does not tolerate any form of violence."
Greenwood's endorsement arrangement with Nike was later canceled when Nike stated that it was "very worried" by the "disturbing claims."
On January 22, he made his last appearance for the club in a 1-0 win over West Ham.
Prior to his arrest, Greenwood has six goals in all club competitions.
He made his only appearance for England against Iceland in September 2020, but was then sent home along with fellow star Phil Foden for violating Covid standards.
