We'll be watching the FIFA World Cup 2022 in no time. Several teams have already qualified for the competition, while others are still awaiting word on whether or not they have made the cut. The competition has always been fierce in every event I've ever witnessed, and practically every African team has been ousted in the first round.
Nonetheless, some African countries made it past the preliminary round. I'll tell you about the World Cup quarterfinals, which will feature only three African countries.
Ghana is a country in West Africa ( 2010)
In addition to being the inaugural FIFA World Cup, it was also the first to be staged in Africa. Cameroon and Nigeria were expected to fly the African flag high at the tournament in South Africa, but neither country got very far. Both teams were eliminated early in the games, leaving only Ghana to compete. The Black Stars advanced to the quarterfinals, but Asamoah Gyan missed a penalty in the last seconds of regulation, ending their prospects of advancing to the semifinals. Uruguay defeated Ghana in penalty shootouts later on.
Senegal is a country in West Africa ( 2002)
Senegal faced Sweden in the round of 16 after defeating the rest of the field in the group stage. Finally, Ilhan Manz of Turkey scored a golden goal to eliminate the Lions of Teranga from the competition. The Senegalese national soccer team became became the second African team to advance to the FIFA World Cup knockout stage.
Cameroon is a country in Africa ( 1990 )
The Indomitable Lions created history by being the first African team to reach the World Cup quarterfinals. They finally succeeded in 1990. They were matched against England in the tournament's quarterfinals. David Platt of England scored first to get things started. The African giants equalized shortly after, and Eugène Ekéké scored the game-winning goal. However, the Three Lions won in the end because to two penalties conceded by Gary Lineker (one in regulation and another in overtime).

After an unfair firing, Emmanuel Adebayor has won a FIFA tribunal that will pay him nearly half a million dollars.
The Togo international joined Olimpia of Paraguay in early 2020, only months before the pandemic struck. Football - and the world - came to a halt for months, and when games resumed in June of that year, Adebayor was fired, and the 38-year-old has not played since.
Adebayor only made four appearances and was enraged by his removal. Following a tribunal, football's regulatory body has ordered Olimpia to pay Adebayor 510,000 dollars (£420,000) plus 12% interest backdated to 2020.
"There's nothing we can do about contracts that have already been signed," said new Olimpia president Miguel Cardona, "but the club will reform its salary policy."
