MANCHESTER UNITED goalkeeper David De Gea is set to join Erik ten Hag's squad next season.
According to rumours, Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea is dissatisfied with goalkeeper training at Old Trafford. After a breakout season in 2021/2022, the Spain international is widely expected to be Erik ten Hag's No 1 next season. Despite his impressive performances, things aren't always as they seem behind the scenes.
After falling behind Dean Henderson in the pecking order a year ago, it appeared that De Gea might struggle to preserve his No. 1 shirt at United.
Henderson's start to the season was delayed by coronavirus, but he was able to reclaim his starting position between the pipes.
De Gea was just named United's player of the season after a stellar season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick.
The Athletic reports that the 31-year-old isn't fully content behind the scenes.
De Gea is said to have been 'disappointed in the past' by some goalkeeper training.
Coaches with a lot of clout have arrived, but in his opinion, they haven't been able to take his game to the next level.

De Gea is also claimed to be upset over losing his place in the Spain national squad, despite the fact that he last played for his country in 2020.
Despite his excellent record, Luis Enrique has consistently disregarded the United goalie, recently stating: "I look to have three starting goalkeepers and I think I have them right now."
“Honestly. I wouldn't mind if any of the three of them took the lead.
"Unai [Simon] has amassed a diverse set of skills.
"A goalkeeper should initiate play and establish the first advantage; they must also dominate aerial play."

"I need a goalkeeper who exudes tranquility and calm, but that doesn't mean they won't make mistakes; mistakes are inevitable in football."
"I really enjoy what they produce."
Ten Hag's possession-based style of play is expected to force De Gea to adjust.
Coaches from Spain's young divisions have reportedly identified a "lack of technical growth" that may have been remedied with greater training.
According to sources close to De Gea, he is 'open' to learning Ten Hag's style.

He's also considered as a'real team player,' as he aspires to keep the No. 1 shirt for many more years.
Last season, De Gea took on greater leadership responsibilities after a string of embarrassing defeats.
The veteran pushed wantaway players to 'just go' after United's season ended with a 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in May.
After the setback at Selhurst Park, he commented, "It's the same emotion."
"The level we've showed in the previous three or four months isn't good enough to win a Premier League match; we were sloppy, we dropped some easy balls around our box; it's impossible to win games at this level."

Under Erik ten Hag, Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea is expected to play a key role.
"All I want to do now is be positive and forget about this season."
"The fact that the new manager [Erik ten Hag] was in the stands was a good omen." I'm hoping things will improve for next season, but that is already in the past. We all know how horrible this season has been for everyone.
"Those who don't want to stay should leave, and those who do want to stay and fight for the club should have a nice break over the summer, prepare ourselves mentally and physically, and be ready to battle again next season."
At United, De Gea isn't exactly safe.
The 31-year-old, on the other hand, is unlikely to go anywhere if he can effectively adapt to life under Ten Hag.
