Newcastle have grown unhappy with the delays in signing Stade Reims striker Hugo Ekitike, according to 90min.

The 19-year-old has agreed to a £26 million fee and has also agreed to personal terms, with the possibility to earn more than quadruple his current pay at St James' Park.

Newcastle had hoped to fly Ekitike in for a physical in the coming days, with the goal of completing the deal early next week, but sources have told 90min it is doubtful.

It's said that Ekitike's agency has not to complete the transfer since payments for their services have still to be sorted out, with the striker himself not thought to be to blame for any of the snags.

Both teams are sure that the transaction will be completed shortly, according to sources close to both clubs, but Newcastle is anxious that the delays are allowing rival suitors to make their case to Ekitike.

Both Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund have long admired Ekitike and could make late approaches for him if this stumbling block in Newcastle's discussions is not resolved quickly.

Dan Ashworth, the Magpies' sporting director, is working on the deal and has assured manager Eddie Howe that Ekitike, who was one of the club's initial targets following their takeover midway through last season, would be signed.

The St James' Park club thought they had a contract in place for Ekitike, the top-scoring teenager in Europe's top-five leagues last season, until late in the transfer window when talks fell down.

Howe has been adamant about bringing Ekitike in, and Newcastle will keep working to find a solution as quickly as can.

As per reports in Italy, Tottenham Hotspur are hell bent on marking Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez and will make a £77 million bid soon.

The Italian club might forfeit the Argentina worldwide this late spring to procure a benefit on the exchange market.

Romelu Lukaku's credit return is as yet being arranged, while the Nerazzurri are likewise in converses with sign Paulo Dybala on a free exchange.
