According to rumours, Manchester United has offered free agent Christian Eriksen a contract, but Newcastle and Tottenham are also interested.

The 30-year-six-month old's contract with Brentford expires at the end of the month, and he's being courted by a number of Premier League clubs.

United has reportedly offered Eriksen a contract as they investigate other midfield options as negotiations for Barcelona's Frenkie de Jong continue.

Newcastle have also initiated talks with the Denmark international's representatives, according to the Northern Echo's Chief Sports Writer Scott Wilson.

The Magpies, on the other hand, are resigned to the reality that United and Spurs are more likely to entice the playmaker, who has previously indicated a desire to return to European competition.

Eriksen's contract with Brentford would also like to be extended, although this is doubtful.

After having an ICD device implanted following his on-field cardiac episode at Euro 2020 last summer, the Dane left Inter Milan by mutual consent at the end of 2021. He was unable to continue playing in Italy after having an ICD device implanted.

Eriksen joined the Bees on a short-term deal in January and made an immediate impact, scoring once and assisting four times in 11 games while also helping Thomas Frank's team win seven of them.

Manchester United news continues

Erik ten Hag, the new manager of Manchester United, has been speaking to the press since taking over the club. The 52-year-old has stated that Cristiano Ronaldo is still in his plans for next season, but has hinted that transforming Old Trafford in his image may take time.

There could be a slew of new arrivals: Frenkie de Jong, valued at £67.5 million, remains a top target, while Raphinha of Leeds is also on the radar. Jurrien Timber is one name that comes up frequently, and United have long admired Lazio's Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

Christian Eriksen of Brentford, who is out of contract at the end of the season, is one slightly outlandish potential purchase.
