Inter Milan cannot rely on Romelu Lukaku, Paulo Dybala, and Lautaro Martinez to create an offensive because this would expose Simone Inzaghi's defense.
Arrigo Sacchi, a Milan icon, linked the concept to Real Madrid's intentions in the early 2000s, when they constructed a team of attacking superstars.
Between 2004 and 2010, Los Blancos had a star-studded lineup that included David Beckham, Ronaldo Nazario, Raul, Luis Figo, and Zinedine Zidane, but they went six seasons without winning a Champions League knockout encounter.
Inter are seeking to knock Milan off the top of Serie A, with Inzaghi attempting to get Lukaku back on loan from Chelsea, while Dybala is set to sign a free transfer with the Nerazzurri.
Lukaku led Inter to the Scudetto in 2020-21, and no other Nerazzurri player scored more goals (64), contributed more assists (17), or created more chances (133) in all competitions during his two-year stay.
Martinez was Inter's top Serie A scorer in the 2021-22 season, with 21 goals, eight more than nearest rival Edin Dzeko, while Dybala led Juventus with the most league goals (10).
Combining the three could give Inzaghi more firepower, but Sacchi thinks Inter must focus on balance rather than attacking riches.
He said Gazzetta dello Sport, "You don't form teams with statues." "I was director of football at Real Madrid [in 2004-05], and they wanted me to coach." Do you have any idea what the attack was about?
"Raul, Beckham, Ronaldo, Zidane, Figo. We had [Fernando] Morientes and [Michael] Owen on the bench. It wasn't a team, but it was a movie with no narrative.
"As a result, I thanked the president but declined. We would have required two defensive players with bullet-proof jackets to safeguard the defense. "Balance is always required in teams."
Sacchi also believes Lukaku, Martinez, and Dybala would be unwilling to aid those in front of them with defensive work.
"You need a full team that is always engaged - both offensively and defensively." You must move, participate in the action, and collaborate," he stressed.
"Then you may think about regaining possession of the ball fast when the opposition has it." When you give up three players to the opposition, you only have eight people on defense instead of 11.
"The player's willingness and physical characteristics are critical. I don't think Lukaku, Martinez, or Dybala have these abilities, but I could be wrong."
