FINANCE MINISTER, KEN OFORI-ATTA FAILS TO APPEAR BEFORE PARLIAMENT

The finance minister was to appear before Parliament on 16th June,2022 to answer some 16 questions about his ministry and also give accountability on how the COVID-19 funds was used.

The minister who failed to appear before the house was seeking for more time to do that.

 

The MP for the South Tongu, Hon.Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa said the minister will be made to account for the expenditure no matter how long it takes.

In a twitter post on Thursday,June 16, he stated that Mr. ofori-Atta would be on a run to Parliament if it was a loan he needed.

“Anytime Ken ofori-Atta must account to the Ghanaian people through Parliament, he makes pathetic excuses and run away, if it was an opportunity to engage in unconstitutional withdrawals of taxpayer funds,he would have proceeded with unholy alacrity.“

 

In his final words, he added,” he can run , but he can’t hide. 

 

Meanwhile, the majority leader , osei kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has risen to defend the minister.

He said the minister is not running away from accountability. According to him, such claims are untrue and should be disregarded.

“ Let nobody rush to that conclusion he is not running away from accountability.What he has communicated to us,and indeed he only asked for additional time.

 

The Finance minister have been scheduled to answer the questions on Wednesday, June 22.
