According to rumours, Manchester United is interested in signing Frenkie de Jong, Vitinha, and Malcolm Ebiowei.

United's main priority this summer has been the Dutch midfielder, and sources on Friday morning claim that despite Barcelona's improved financial circumstances, he is still set to leave.

Following this, Jonathan Shrager has stated that United are interested in two players in addition to the 25-year-old.

The two other players he cites are Vitinha of FC Porto and Malcolm Ebiowei of Derby County.

The former is another center-midfield alternative, which makes sense given the position's lack of depth after the departures of Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic.

Yet, despite playing in a double pivot with the more defensive Marko Grujic in Portugal, he does not appear to be the answer to United's holding midfield problem.

During the Portugal Cup Final football match between FC Porto and CD Tondela, Vitinha of FC Porto shoots.United is now discussing personal conditions with the Portuguese midfielder, but according to Shrager, they have not made a formal proposal.

The 22-year-old reportedly has a £34 million release clause, which SPORT claimed earlier this week that United are considering activating.

According to reports elsewhere, they may have competition for his signature, with Pedro Sepulveda claiming that PSG is holding a meeting to decide whether or not to activate the release clause.

Meanwhile, Ebiowei is a brilliant 18-year-old forward who appeared in 16 Championship games for Wayne Rooney's side last season.

He also scored seven goals in as many games while playing in the Under-18s Premier League, and is considered a strong prospect that United could target.

Fabrizio Romano said earlier this week that the Reds, along with Crystal Palace, were leading the fight for the kid.

United is currently pressing hard for this transaction, according to Shrager, and Ebiowei representatives are enthusiastic about it.

It's unclear whether this is primarily a move to enhance United's development system, or whether the forward is a new option to bolster United's frontline depth in the first squad.

Last season, Malcolm Ebiowei broke into Wayne Rooney's Derby County first squad. Jurrien Timber of Ajax is another player who has piqued United's interest.

Last season, the defender worked under Erik ten Hag and is a versatile player who would be beneficial to the team.

According to Shrager, talks between Timber's camp and United's camp broke down when discussing personal terms. Those talks are currently stopped, but they are not dead, and United could resume negotiations before the deadline closes.
