Inaki Williams and his younger brother, Nico Williams, have declined a call-up to the Black Stars ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The Ghana Football Association [GFA] has been after the Athletico Bilbao duo for a long time.

Following the country's qualification for the Mundial, it was revealed that the brothers had met with Kurt Okraku, the FA's president, and were close to agreeing to switch nationalities in order to play for the West African country. According to claims from Spanish top tabloid Mundo Deportivo, Inaki and Nico, however, are not ready to transfer nationalities to play for Ghana ahead of the global showpiece. Both electrifying wingers were born in Spain to Ghanaian parents and are all eligible to play for the Black Stars.

After graduating from Athletico Bilbao's youth team, Inaki has been with the first team for several years and is now one of the most popular supporters at the Estadio San Mamerse, with Nico following suit. The Williams brothers landed in Ghana for the first time just a week ago, primarily to pay courtesy calls to their grandparents and other relatives in the West African country, with most Ghanaian football fans seeing it as a fantastic opportunity to recruit them for the Black Stars.

Coach Otto Addo is still working with his players in preparation for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which will be held in Qatar in November of this year.

Meanwhile, Eddie Nketiah, Callum Hudson Odoi, and Tariq Lamptey are set to complete their Ghanaian citizenship changes before the World Cup begins.

Ghana, who will play Portugal on November 24 at Stadium 974 in Doha, will begin their campaign in Group H.The Black Stars will return to action four days later when they face South Korea at the Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan.

At Al Janoub Stadium in Al Wakrah, Ghana will conclude their group stage campaign with a highly anticipated match against Uruguay.
