Mane names favorite footballer resurfaces as he moves closer to Liverpool exit

As the Senegalese gets closer to leaving Liverpool, Sadio Mane's remarks on his favorite player have recently come up online. Mane, 30, has spent six years with Liverpool and it appears increasingly likely that he will leave this summer. He is reportedly close to signing with Bayern Munich, with the Bundesliga champions willing to match the Reds' £42.5 million asking price, according to Sky Sports.

This past season, the Senegalese star established himself as one of the best names in world football, but neither Lionel Messi nor Cristiano Ronaldo are his favorites.

Prior to Liverpool's matchup with Barcelona in the 2018–19 UEFA Champions League, he was previously cited as saying:

"Ronaldinho was my hero, in my opinion. Especially when he was here [at FC Barcelona], I really enjoyed seeing him play. To be really honest, I still adore him, and I will always consider him to be my idol. Given their respective stellar careers, Ronaldo and Messi are regarded as the two best footballers of all time. Over the course of their illustrious careers, they have combined to score an astounding 1370 goals.

Among other achievements, Ronaldo has won the Champions League five times, the Premier League three times, and the La Liga championship twice. Messi has won the Champions League four times, La Liga ten times, and most recently, his first Ligue 1 championship with PSG.Mane, however, looked up to the Argentine's former Barcelona teammate Ronaldinho. One of the most distinctive players in football history is the iconic Brazilian. Fans were enthralled by his amazing abilities, fascinating agility, and goal-scoring brilliance for years.
