Jamie Carragher reacts immediately as Sadio Mane finally agrees to leave Liverpool

Jamie Carragher, a Liverpool fan, has written an emotional farewell message to the club's departing star Sadio Mane, who is set to join Bayern Munich.

Jamie Carragher has paid tribute to Sadio Mane as he prepares to leave Liverpool for Bayern Munich, describing the outgoing striker as a true Liverpool legend.

Mane's Reds career is coming to an end after a stunning six-year stint on Merseyside. His departure became a step closer on Friday, when Bayern agreed to a £35.1 million fee with Liverpool for his services. Prior to last month's Champions League final, the 30-year-old hinted that he was looking for a new challenge.

Bayern Munich moved quickly to sign the Senegalese striker, who has 120 goals in 269 appearances for Jurgen Klopp's side. The former Southampton star was one of Klopp's first signings and has evolved into one of the Premier League's most lethal forwards under Klopp's tutelage - and Carragher was quick to praise the Reds' departing star on social media.

The former Liverpool midfielder tweeted: "Sadio Mane, my favorite @LFC player of this era, has finally left! Low maintenance, high performance, and never injured! A true Liverpool legend with numerous trophies and goals. Thank you very much, Sadio."

Prior to his heartfelt message on Friday, Carragher admitted that it was'sad' to see Liverpool's lethal attacking trio finally dismantled earlier this month. Carragher told Sky Sports: "Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp normally get their recruitment right certainly when they spend big. The figures we're talking - that's what they spent on the goalkeeper and Van Dijk and they made a huge difference.

"Liverpool do need to refresh their front line right now due to the age of that front three who have been absolutely fantastic for Liverpool over the last four or five years."

In an emotional farewell message, Jamie Carragher referred to Mane as a legend.

"It's unfortunate to see it broken up in some ways, but it had to end sooner or later, and with Sadio Mane looking like he's going to move on, Liverpool had to do something, and he's the one they've identified."

Mane won the Premier League title, the Champions League, an FA Cup, a League Cup, the UEFA Super Cup, and the Club World Cup during his time at the club that lost two European Cup finals.
